DevOps Engineer AWS, New York City, NY

Position: DevOps Engineer (AWS)
Location: New York City, NY
Duration: Perm / Direct Hire
Start: ASAP
Looking for a DevOps Engineer to help us work on interesting and challenging problems.
We are building a completely AWS-based, software defined multi-app stack to support millions of users and multiple partner integrations with large financial institutions. Through our emphasis on continuous improvement, we're learning new tools, tips and tricks every day while pushing the boundaries of our platform. We have a compact team where working smart is paramount, especially in DevOps. Building new tools to automate monitor and keep the wheels turning is our favorite way to keep the whole company running smoothly and efficiently.
If you're smart, motivated, take pride in your work and want to learn from (and teach) other engineers in a highly cohesive team, this is definitely the right place for you.
You're familiar with most of these, and are interested in learning ones you don't yet know:
  • AWS (EC2, RDS, ELBs, EBS, CloudFormation, S3, VPC)
  • Ubuntu Linux
  • Puppet/Chef, Jenkins, TeamCity, Fabric and Zabbix
  • Continuous integration, testing and deloyment
  • Syslog and log management
  • Monitoring and alerting strategies, backup and disaster recovery
  • TCP/IP networking, firewall configuration, VPNs, network security, intrusion detection
  • PCI compliance, scanning, and encryption key management
  • Python, Django, MongoDB, MySQL/PostgreSQL
  • Operating a production platform and survived a few outages/disasters
Some of the problems we're currently working on:
  • fully automating our production stacks with Cloud Formation and Puppet Enterprise
  • making our core platform multi-regional, multi-AZ
  • automating instant and "disposable" development and staging environment creation
  • speeding up our automated testing through parallel testing and smarter test execution
  • overhauling our Mongo DB stack for improved stability and performance
  • constantly improving our monitoring and alerting, allowing us to pinpoint problems and implement solutions more quickly every day
  • Company culture that values results and offers flexibility
  • Help create the culture as an early member of our team
  • Knowledge that what you're building will positively impact millions of people
  • Access to whatever tools and computing resources needed
  • Time to contribute back to the Open Source community, create open source projects, and contribute to our tech blog
  • Competitive compensation package with equity and great health benefits

Sincerely,

Arvind K
