Job Description:
CFTC’s
Division of Market Oversight (DMO) fosters markets that accurately reflect the
forces of supply
and demand for the underlying commodity and are free of abusive trading activity; thereby helping to
ensure that the markets perform the vital economic functions of price discovery and hedging. DMO
staff monitors all actively-traded futures and option markets to detect and prevent price manipulation
and abusive trading practices. Staff also reviews applications of new exchanges for approval, reviews
new product and rule change filings by regulated markets, and is responsible for carrying out the
CFTC’s program for oversight of exempt markets. DMO oversees exchanges’ enforcement of their
rules, monitors trade practices, and investigates alleged violations. DMO also performs economic and
legal analyses and studies of issues related to markets and products.

Task Description:
Provide
analytical contractor support for DMO’s compliance activities.
Required skills/Level of
Experience :
* Analytical manipulation of large databases
* Greenplum and postgresql
* SAS / or R but preferably R
* Data Mining
* Excel (preferably with cross tabs / vlookups
etc. and some VBA)
(Local to the Washington, D.C.
area)
