Hardware Engineer – This position is responsible for the technical health, planning, management, development, integration, installation, and operational support for end-to-end systems. Services include:
  • Hardware Support (design, layout, testing, installation, deployment, system administration and maintenance) of servers, workstations, printers and peripherals in Windows environments.
  • Network Engineering Support (LAN/WAN/ATM engineering, monitoring, administration and tool deployment)
  • Software Support (database, applications development and maintenance, life cycle support web technologies, MS SQL Server)
  • Software Engineering Support (Documentation, testing, requirements analysis). 
 The Network Server Administrator is responsible for maintaining the LAN operation infrastructure. Such responsibilities will include: System upgrades, system documentation, daily administration and problem resolution, as well as assisting staff in problem resolution relating to hardware, software, and communication issues.  The Network Administrator will participate in the design and planning of the infrastructure required to support the Clients’ software project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Full responsibility for planning, managing and detailed documentation of the TAMIS server room to include robust configuration control and status accounting.
  • Daily monitoring and documentation of the health of the network, servers and peripherals.
  • Plans and implements network security, including building firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, managing host security, file permissions, and file system integrity, and adding and deleting users.
  • Ensures compliance with DOD IAVA requirements and installs required patches.
  • Ensures compliance of IT Security Policies, DISA STIGs and other applicable DOD standards.
  • Provides support in security management and security architect standards and documentations.
  • Provides technical support and consultation for enhancement of and change to network security configuration.
  • Defines processes to manage the network security.
  • Responsible for system security planning, developing, and implementing security policies
  • Prepares and maintains technical specifications and documents, drawings and system documentation.
  • Defines security frameworks for existing and new systems.
  • Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains personal computers, Microsoft networks, PC workstations, file servers, Ethernet networks, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems.
  • Supports network infrastructure, including Windows 2003/2008 servers running MS SQL Server 2005/2008, IIS 6.0/7.x, Microsoft Office, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Symantec Backup Exec.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains computer and network operating system and application software.
  • Adds or upgrades and configures disk drives, data acquisition boards, CD ROM units, printers, and related equipment.
  • Performs hardware and software upgrades to network servers including operating systems and applications.
  • Performs and/or oversees software and application development, installation, and upgrades.
  • Tunes networks for optimal system performance.
  • Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment.
  • Ensures successful implementation and maintenance of the defined standards.
  • Develops cutting-edge, innovative solutions for IT networks security.
  • Studies proliferation of viruses and prevent hacker intrusion.
  • Conducts active penetration tests.
  • Discovers vulnerabilities in information systems.
  • In response to newly identified security threats, rapidly identifies and fixes any network devices.
  • Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
  • Prepares and maintains a disaster recovery plan.
  • Maintains site licenses.
  • Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
  • Provides fault resolution and escalation.
  • Conducts growth analysis and capacity planning.
  • Monitors nightly/monthly backups and virus protection.
  • Coordinates closely with configuration managers to provide hardware and software configuration management information to include tracking and inventorying all hardware, software, licenses, orders and purchases.
 Knowledge / Skills Required:

 Minimum Requirement / Education / Clearance:
  • 5 years’ experience in Network Administration or Engineering
  • 2 years’ experience in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, personal computers, networks, and/or related hardware and software (Required)
  • DISA STIG Compliance experience (Required)
  • Computer/network systems planning skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge in user administration, firewall and router configuration, Microsoft Office suite support, Windows Server 2003/2008, Windows XP/Vista/7, Cisco switches and routers
  • Experience with Hewlett Packard, Compaq and Dell enterprise servers
  • Experience in connectivity and communications protocols essential
  • Experience with cabling systems, hubs and routers
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Preferred)  or equivalent experience
