Job Description
Provide technical expertise in developing and supporting point-of-sale (POS) applications at Darden.  Inform and advise customers on information system technologies, functionality, costs, benefits, and implementation requirements.  Anticipate problems and proactively manage them to resolution..

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide technical expertise for critical point-of-sale (POS) applications.
  • Participate in the development of functional requirements and design specifications.
  • Help refine conceptual systems design requirements and produce a detailed technical design. Prepare and deliver supporting technical documentation.
  • Provide programming and technical expertise to implement business solutions according to the technical design. 
·         Ensure that all code / technical configurations and other work products are thoroughly unit-tested prior to delivery. 
·         Participate in system / integration testing as appropriate.  Perform code reviews and other QA steps as requested.
  • Ensure accurate project status is always known and communicated.
  • Effectively communicate with team members and management throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Ensure issues are analyzed, discussed and resolved in a timely manner. 
  • Assist customers in the preparation of user documentation and training materials.
  • Assist project team with determining the appropriate tools, technologies, and platforms for new implementations.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • 5+ years Java programming experience
  • 3+ years development using Microsoft SQL
  • Strong SQL query authoring/analysis skills
  • Demonstrated competency in accurately identifying the scope of work and preparing thorough, accurate, and detailed schedule estimates
  • Demonstrated competency in designing, programming, and unit testing complex n-Tier applications
  • Demonstrated competency in producing clear and thorough technical documentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
BS / BA in MIS, Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Engineering

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and efficiently, without close supervision
  • Demonstrated experience with taking initiative to provide input and resolve issues and problems proactively
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp new concepts, both technical and business related, and to apply these concepts as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple assignments

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  •          Experience with J2SE 1.6/1.7, MVC Pattern, Servlets, JSP, RMI, AWT, Spring, Tomcat 5.5/7, Microsoft SQL   Server 2005/2008, Apache CXF, Eclipse, Subversion, Jenkins, JUnit, JavaDoc
    Experience working with and troubleshooting different Microsoft Windows operating systems (Win XP/7, Win Server 2008/2012)
  • Knowledge of restaurant business
  • ·         Exposure to or working experience with point of sale or retail software platforms
