JOB DESCRIPTION
The mission of the Marine Corps Enterprise Information Technology Services
(MCEITS) program is to provide enterprise IT services, service support and the
infrastructure necessary to enable a secure, collaborative, interoperable
information sharing environment for the warfighting and business domains.
JOB SUMMARY
The Sr. Configuration Management Analyst is responsible for the IT Service
Management (ITSM)
process to identify and track Configuration
Items (CIs) through their lifecycle. Responsible for planning, identification,
control, status accounting, audit and verification activities to achieve control
of the IT system functional and physical assets. Responsible for creation of product baseline
and quality data management of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) by
ensuring that CIs are recorded, and attributes and relationships properly maintained throughout
the entire lifecycle of the CI record. Reviews released engineering change requests
and data to ensure adherence to configuration management procedures and
policies. Participate in the continual service improvement of the asset and configuration
management processes and procedures based on ITIL V3 framework.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES
Primary emphasis of this position is on the ability to perform data
analysis activities in support Configuration Management initiatives. Interface
with vendor in the establishment of a CMDB and implementation of an automated
discovery tool. Identify and establish
business rules for automated discovery.
Perform data extracts and imports for CMDB, perform data manipulation,
and data analysis. Test functionality and work with vendor to resolve defects
of new tool implementations. Create, populate and establish procedures for
population and maintenance of definitive media library (DML).
Complete actions to establish accurate product baseline in CMDB.
Coordinate and lead efforts to create CIs, populate attribute data and create relationships
to other CIs.
Write new documentation, or update existing documentation, in the form of plans, Standard Operating
Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) related to accomplishment of task
order initiaties, primarily to establish and maintain CMDB.
Serve in a key role in the implementation of physical configuration audits
utilizing various methods of inspection.
Produce data extracts from CMDB and other data repositories from which
to conduct the audit. Participate in the audit. Document results and ensure
corrective actions to resolve discrepancies are completed.
Identify, develop and maintain reports to support Configuration Status
Accounting Reporting. Provide inventory reports or other important KPI reports
related to configuration items.
Communicate effectively with senior management, engineering, and leads to
achieve task order initiatives to ensure compliance is met in delivering new
product baseline in CMDB.
Increase customer loyalty by building solid relationships with the
customers.
Perform other duties as required.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of related experience
Configuration Management and/or Data Analyst performance role
Must be organized and detailed oriented
Experienced with Microsoft Office Products: Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
Extensive knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel
Oracle database knowledge / ability to create ad-hoc SQL queries
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to multi-task, and adaptable to changes
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated and self-directed
Ability to work in a matrix environment
Proven ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients,
collaborators and partners from a wide range of backgrounds, industries and
cultures
REQUIRED
CERTIFICATIONS:
U.S. Citizenship
Secret Security clearance
Security+ certification (ability to
achieve certificate within 30 days of start)

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Full ITIL process knowledge of all Service Transition and Service
Operations processes (e.g., Incident, Problem, Change and most preferred
Configuration Management) is highly desired.
Ability to work with culturally diverse and geographically dispersed teams
Experience using BMC Atrium and/or other CMDB management tool
Experience with BMC ADDM, and/or other software and hardware discovery
tools
Experience with query based reporting tool such as BMC Analytics
Experience with Visio
Experience of data mapping
concepts (relative to CMDB data import and uCMDB/CMDB integration)
Lots of patience, as position will be repeatedly asked process/tool
questions
PREFERRED
CERTIFICATIONS:
ITIL v3 Foundation (need to provide certificate numbers for all
certifications)
